Hey all! I am headed on vacation tomorrow, June 17th through June 28th for a little vacation in Kauai. Feel free to email me, however, I am not sure how great I'll be about getting back to you right away but I will get back to you for sure when I get home.

Here's a little sneak peak from a wedding I photographed this last Friday, just to wet your whistle while I am gone.

Aloha!

My friend and fellow artist, Jenny Christiansen had me photograph her jewelry display a couple of weeks ago after we had the art and jewelry party we had here at the studio. Here are some of my favorite shots. Her work is so beautiful, original and fashion forward! I highly recommend you to check out her work which is available on Etsy.com.

As many of my local clients know, Bozeman's local wine bar, Plonk, is one of my favorite places to get together with clients and friends. Plonk has recently been purchased by 3 young entrepreneurs. In celebration of their new purchase and the new vibe, they decided to throw a formal, invitation only grand re-opening party on Thursday, May 28th and a huge grand opening party on Friday, May 29th which was open to the public. They so graciously asked me to photograph the private party which was well attended, classy and beautifully decorated with coordination by Katalin Green, floral design by Avant Floral, lighting by Filmlites, and music by the M.J. Williams Trio. Not to mention, fantastic wine, cocktails and food by Plonk's talented bar tenders and chefs.

Here are some of my favorite pics from the night.

The back patio is beautifully decorated with planters from a local Bozeman nursery,  Oak Gardens.

On day 1 of the Joe Bussink workshop we were invited to hang out in the afternoon at Gary and Melissa Fong's Twin Creeks Ranch. They have an infinite pool that looks like it flows right over the edge to the Okanagan Valley. Its a stunning view. At any rate, a lovely couple Joel and Cora-Lee Cudmore photographers from the area attended the workshop and were enjoying the pool & view as well. They brought their little girl, Ava who, as you can see had a wonderful time playing in the pool. There was an area that is the perfect debth for her to sit, splash and roll around in. I couldn't resist her playful smiles and giggles. Here's what I grabbed of her in about a 5 minute shoot.

Which brings me to my next point, I love photographing lifestyle portraits of babies, children, pregnancy and families. I consider a lifestyle photo session a more relaxed, casual portrait shoot, often outside that captures the nature of you and your family at that point in time.

I am taking lifestyle portrait session bookings all summer so please contact me if you would like to schedule!

So we photographed 2 models in the afternoon on day one of Joe Bussink's, Defining Moments workshop. His ideas and concepts are to capture the moments as they are unfolding and capture it quickly so you don't miss it and capture it before the subject notices you are photographing them. As we took turns directing the models, were were trying to capture the models not being "camera aware", so not looking at the camera; hopefully when their true self showed through, not necessarily when they were posing. Great practice, but a bit tricky working with models.

Here are a whole bunch of my favorite shots from that afternoon. We chose our 5 best and presented them at critique the next day. Can you guess which 5 I chose?

As you will see, the Twin Creeks Ranch had lots of great locations to shoot! Thanks again to Gary and Melissa for hosting this awesome workshop!
