This is the beautiful Schatz family, Heather, Jordan, Arwin and new baby Gwyneth. They hired me to photograph the birth of their second baby. Heather and Jordan were very sure baby would arrive early as Arwin did but after waiting and waiting, she arrived 10 days late. I got the call last Sunday around 5pm. Jordan's voice was calm as always but telling me they'd already had the baby... on the way to the Birth Center. That is right! Baby Gwyneth was born in the car. I guess after taking her time to come into this world, she had made up her mind and was ready to meet her new family face to face. Needless to say, this family is amazing. They were filled with so much peace even after their intense birth experience. These photos were taken the hours after Gwyneth was born. They headed home right after I left. Rock Stars I tell you!
I must admit, I was a bit sad to have missed photographing the birthing process in all its intensity and glory but was so honored to be there to document some of baby Gwyneth's first breaths, looks and experiences in her new world.
Schatz family, congratulations, peach, joy and love to you.

I always say, I love becoming friends with my clients. In this case it is really true. I met Frances when we were both about 7 months prego in 2009. Actually, our daughters had the same due date! But, Chapin, Frances's daughter was early and Cecelia, my daughter was late, so they are about a month apart in age. I've had the chance to get to know Frances and her family, Tood, Chapin and Gradey-dog over the past 2 years. Frances and I grew close after our daughters were born, getting together almost weekly with a group of other new mommies. At any rate, I've fallen in love with this family. I feel truly blessed to know such kind, thoughtful, fun folks! It is such an honor to document your lives. Thank you!
On another note... this is a great example of how great winter portraits can be! Don't be afraid of the winter! Any time of year is a good for a portrait session!
Here is a link to the maternity shoot I did with Todd and Frances in 2009! Maternity
