1. I'm a MOM! Ok, so many of you out there reading this probably already know I'm a mom... but I couldn't help but mention my beautiful 4 1/2 month old daughter, Cecelia.

2. I'm a 4th generation Montanan!

3. I LOVE to telemark ski. No, not tele-market... look it up! :)

4. I'm a clean freak. One of my favorite things to do is clean clean clean and organize my house then sit down with a glass of wine and admire it.

5. I used to hate my middle name, Buckley. It is my mom's maiden name. But now I love having a family name.

6. I know wine. My dad collects wine and every time I go home he pours me a glass and has me guess it's vintage, region, type, etc... and I more often than not get it right!

7. I LOVE to travel. As I write this, I am in Miami with Cecelia, my Mom, sister, Cody (who is visiting from Ecuador).

8. I have a green thumb. I love to get my hands in the dirt and I can even get my orchids to thrive and bloom.

9. I once swam across Whitefish Lake, about 3 miles I think and I hope to do it again this year.

10. I get motion sick super easy.

11. I've never broke a bone and haven't even been in the hospital, even to have Cecelia!

12. I've visited over 17 countries and 3 continents in my years. I lived in Italy for a semester, visited China and traveled all over South East Asia for 3 months. I hope to travel lots more in the future, even with little Cecelia.

13. I secretly want to move to Hawaii.

14. I have 22 years of photography experience. Yep that's right, I've been shooting, developing and printing my own photos since I was 7!

15. I listen to NPR daily.

16. I've never learned how to navigate a PC. I'm a MAC girl, born and raised. I remember my dad's tan rectangular apple computer back in the 80's!

17. I secretly want to move off the grid, live sustainably and swear off computers and technology.

18. I LOVE lemonheads.

19. I LOVE spicy food. Horseradish, wasabi and especially Franks Hot Sauce which put it on everything.

20. I wish I were a professional dancer. I think the music, self expression combined with the athleticism is so beautiful and would be incredibly rewarding.

21. I tear-up when the commercials come on about abused and neglected pets. I wished I could adopt, nurture and love all of them.

22. I LOVE musicals. Cheesy right! A couple of my all time favorites are Moulin Rouge and Across the Universe.

23. I have seen moose, elk, deer, bear, turkey, hawks, weasels, trout, chipmunks, squirrels, loads of different birds and even heard a mountain lion all in my BACKYARD!

24. I have a 6 year old golden retriever named Lucca who has the fastest tongue in the West, thinks everyone wants to pet him and will probably goose you when you meet him (sorry).

25. I'm an introvert. I love developing intimate relationships. I think it is one of the reasons I photograph weddings. I love to get to know and become friends with my clients.

I grew up in Helena and Billings where my parents have outdoor specialty stores called the Base Camp. We were always out and about camping, hiking, boating and skiing all over Montana and Wyoming. My dad was asked to write an article for the Helena Independent Record that was featured this last Thursday, April 8th on the front of the LIfestyle/Outdoor section of the paper. Here are a few photos of my mom Deb, dad, Scott,  younger sister, Cody, our two golden retrievers, Biner and Buster and of course, me! Anyways, thought you all might enjoy some fun pics of my family and me and may like to read the article.

This is me taking a nap on my dad's back, in the Elkhorn Mountains around 1982 with the family dog, Buster.

Everyone was packed up for our first backpacking trip in Elkhorn Mountains around 1982.
I was 1 1/2. It cracks me up that my mom had to carry a duffel bag.

So, I've started to come up for air from mommy land, well, sort of. I photographed Hilary and Tim's engagement session around Bozeman, Montana. It turned out to be the first time I was away from Cecelia for any extended period of time. I have to be honest, it felt great to be out shooting again. I am slowly but surely starting to work. Which means you all will have more blog entries to check out and if you would like to schedule your portrait session give me a call.

Cecelia and I have been settling into our new routine here at home. Its been interesting trying to juggle work and baby girl, but I'm managing.

Over the next few months I won't be taking on much work but will be taking bookings after March and potential client meetings if you would like to meet and take a look at more of my work.

Over the next few weeks I plan on blogging shoots from all last year, updating my wedding website and rebuilding my portrait site. I'll of course be brushing up my baby portrait skills photographing Miss Cecelia weekly.

Here are some of my latest favs at 3 weeks old. She's so funny when she just wakes up from a nap. Lots of stretching and funny faces.

Enjoy!

She's here! She's here! Bill and I are so excited to announce the arrival of our baby girl, Cecelia Elizabeth McConnell. She was born Tuesday, December 15th at 4:54am here in Bozeman, Montana! She's absolutely perfect and Bill, myself and our families couldn't feel more blessed. She arrived just in time for Christmas.

So, as you might assume, I am going to be out of the studio on maternity leave for a while. I will however be taking appointments and bookings. Jennie Lynn, my fabulous associate will be in the studio a couple times a week filing print orders, shipping albums, relaying messages and keeping things running. Feel free to email me if you would like to get together. I have been checking my email but some days get a little full with a newborn, so just know I am doing my best to get back to you right away.

My home phone number is 406.585.4622 if you need to reach me right away.

Here are some pics from Cece's 5th day out of the womb. Her first of many many photos shoots I am sure.

Lauren, she is a gift from God and his hand shows in her new born smile. Congratulations to you and Bill. Enjoy every moment you can with her. My oldest is 17 now and rushing around with bf's and singing. They grow up so fast and as we get older they seem to grow even faster so don't let the shutter stop for a second or you will miss the years.

Lauren
