I grew up in Helena and Billings where my parents have outdoor specialty stores called the Base Camp. We were always out and about camping, hiking, boating and skiing all over Montana and Wyoming. My dad was asked to write an article for the Helena Independent Record that was featured this last Thursday, April 8th on the front of the LIfestyle/Outdoor section of the paper. Here are a few photos of my mom Deb, dad, Scott,  younger sister, Cody, our two golden retrievers, Biner and Buster and of course, me! Anyways, thought you all might enjoy some fun pics of my family and me and may like to read the article.

I was showing Cody a frog on the Missouri River on our first canoe trip.I was showing Cody a frog on the Missouri River on our first canoe trip.04Brownfamily.jpg

This is me taking a nap on my dad's back, in the Elkhorn Mountains around 1982 with the family dog, Buster.

Everyone was packed up for our first backpacking trip in Elkhorn Mountains around 1982.
I was 1 1/2. It cracks me up that my mom had to carry a duffel bag.

Last year I photographed Les Dances de L'Amour (Dances of Love) at the Emerson that is put on by Youth Arts in Action and to my surprise, my photos have appeared on the front of the "This Week" from the Chronicle and the Bozone. Unfortunately, they neglected to give me photo credit (whoops! it really bums me out when that happens).

At any rate. It's the most inspiring performance to photograph. The dancers are world class. I am excited to photograph it again this year. It takes place this Wednesday evening. I highly recommend going. It is world class ballet right here in Bozeman, Montana. You can order tickets online at the Youth Arts in Action website.

I apologize for the terrible scan quality.. what can I say, its newsprint.

Hope to see you all there.

Amazing photos! and amazing dancers...I wished I could have seen them being photographed! You have an artists eye...your own way of seeing which is a gift for us! Too bad about the lack of recognition...it happens. But I think the covers are gorgeous! I look forward to seeing shots from the next shoot! Love you so, Mom

Its here! I did it! I finally got my new website up that I have been promising for the past 6 months!!! Hurray! Some of the new features include: a brand new splash page, BIG pictures that fit the size of your screen, a new private online viewing and ordering website, did I mention BIG pictures! Oh yeah, and lots of new engagement photos and wedding portfolios you've never seen before, because honestly, I was just too darn busy to blog and post them last season. Under "info" you can view the video of me shooting a wedding last summer, I have a list of my favorite vendors, info about myself, wedding day info and of course testimonials from past clients.

The only bummer so far is that my new portrait website is not live yet, so when you click on the portrait site it takes you to my wedding site. Urgggg... But, I figure, if gives me another chance to get all excited and blog about the new portrait website.

So, let me know what you think and how it works! Hopefully there are no kinks to work out, but ya never know with this web stuff.

Still looking for a wedding venue for 2009? Look no further! The Double T River Ranch is a new guest ranch located in the Shields River valley about 30 minutes from Bozeman. I have been honored to photograph their twice in the past year for their promotional website and brochure. I quickly discovered when you rent out the Double T, you are literally renting an all access pass to a huge, gorgeous ranch! Think, fly fishing, horseback riding, hiking, wildlife watching! There is a huge beautiful party barn, equip with a commercial kitchen, a quaint, but still luxurious ranch house, a cottage and 2 riverfront cabins. As you will see from the pictures, the ranch and all the buildings are amazingly beautiful yet truly Montana. I highly reccomend this venue for weddings, family reunions, corporate gatherings and even large business parties.

Here is a little information I grabbed directly from the Double T River Ranch website:

Hot, sunny summertime lounging and listening to the river. The cold clear beauty of snow-covered meadows and awe-inspiring mountain backdrops. Deer and moose grazing under blaze orange fall foliage. Bald eagles soaring silhouetted against true blue skies. Private riverside trails wandering through aspen groves and towering cottonwoods to brilliant wildflower meadows...

Just another day at the Double T River Ranch. Come live for a while at your Montana home.
The Double T River Ranch is different. Not a guest ranch, not your typical vacation home. It's your ranch, your way. Discover one of Montana's hidden gems...

The Double T River Ranch...Look forward to laid back.

Located 3 minutes from the friendly, quaint, western town of Clyde Park, MT, the Double T River Ranch offers 115+ acres of beautiful private Montana wilderness - all for the exclusive use of you and your group. The ranch features one mile of prime Shields River frontage, dedicated concierge services, comfortable sleeping space for up to twenty-five guests and a restored "party barn". Whether you bring your family, your fishing buddies or your corporate team, you and your guests will enjoy luxurious accommodations, friendly, warm service and a relaxed, comfortable environment without the distraction of other guests. The Double T is your ranch, your way, offering total freedom to build your ideal vacation.

Born from our own experiences trying to find the perfect place for a vacation for our large, three generation family group, The Double T River Ranch is the realization of a dream to provide a one-of-a-kind experience. The Double T River Ranch provides what typical hotel rooms, guest ranches and vacation homes can't - space, privacy, luxury and unique communal spaces carefully designed for hanging out. Offering a huge restored "party" barn, a four-bedroom ranch house, a one-bedroom cottage and two private riverfront cabins, The Double T River Ranch comfortably sleeps two to 25+ people in total comfort and luxury.
